MSPs GET UPDATE ON LANARKSHIRE NEW TOWN

MSPs at the Scottish Parliament have been given an opportunity to study the Owenstown project at first hand and receive an up to date briefing on progress so far.

A Hometown Foundation project team set out the overall concept of the scheme. This informed the MSPs and allowed them and their staff to find out more about the detail of what is planned. The exhibition ran in the Garden Lobby at Holyrood from Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th April and included developments since the project was launched last Autumn.

Hometown Foundation trustee Stuart Crawford said: "We were delighted to take the details of the project direct to the politicians and look forward to getting their reaction to this exciting development."

Planning procedures are now underway including consultations with all interested groups and individuals. It is expected that a planning application will be lodged with South Lanarkshire Council by early 2011 at the latest.
