The Approval process is underway, with the first stage to consult with the community to hear their views.
The initial development concept has been put together by a project team including architects, engineers, planners and transport consultants and it has been shown to be viable.
As the proposal is refined and confirmed, technical and environmental studies, including Environmental Impact Assessment, Design Statement, Transport Assessment, Energy Strategy, and Economic Appraisal, amongst others, will form the application for Planning in Principle (the new term for Outline Planning Consent under the Planning Act).
Once Planning Permission is secured, the land will be transferred from the Hometown Foundation to the Owenstown Co-operative. Partners will be engaged and investment will be finalised. And the process of building this new town can begin.
